The Prime Numbers contract requires us to read every meter every quarter. Connect St.Helena has divided up the island in the same way as was previously designed by PW&SD into three groups, so that meters for one group are read in January, April, July and October of each year, a second group in February, May etc (you get the idea). Not all Routes have the same number of meters, but the total number of meters in each group is approximately equal.

Since Connect St.Helena took over the provision of utilities on St.Helena, customers have been allocated completely new Account References. Previously, the Route number (as shown above) was part of the Account reference. This is no longer the case and the Route numbers are simply a mechanism for Prime Numbers to divide up the meter reading task into sensible units.
