The school is staffed
by qualified teachers, carefully chosen with a variety of skills which complement
the diversity of an Early Childhood Classroom. All parents are encouraged
to participate in Field trips and class activities at any time and as often
as they wish.
Developmentally
appropriate early learning is accepted as one of the most effective ways
of teaching young children and is practised world-wide. The main element
of Early Learning is the stimulation of the senses of the child at the first
and most important stage of development. By the provision of the correct
environment, carefully structured with the correct equipment, the child
is stimulated to want to learn and the result is that children leave Mountainview
School extremely well prepared for Primary school in all basic disciplines.
For each child,
our staff will introduce a programme of tuition which will be carried out
partly in a group and partly on an individual basis. The progress of each
child is monitored and records are kept. A report on each child's progress
is made annually.
Extra-curricular activities
Each afternoon after
lesson period we offer a variety of activities including music, singing, drama,
cooking, skating, cycling, walking, learning basic ball skills for football,
golf, basketball, softball and cricket. These activities add variety to the
day and the children enjoy them enormously.
Mountainview Nursery / Day
Care
Our experienced nursery teachers provide a stimulating, secure
and caring environment for the children. The day is divided into
sessions and a timetable of activities is adhered to so as to provide
a structured, balanced day. The children are treated with respect
by staff and are taught to respect others. Our policy is to be kind
and patient whilst also being firm. The children therefore feel
secure and cared for and as a result we have a very happy atmosphere.
